Level Devil

Level Devil is a pixel platform game where your goal is to reach the door at the end of each stage.

Sounds simple, but this game trolls you any chance it gets. The longer you play, the more you start second-guessing everything.

Platforms collapse the moment your foot touches them. Spikes slide into place mid-jump. Controls flip mid-run. The game changes right after you think you understand it.

How Level Devil works

In Level Devil, you will die. A lot.

That's the design.

Early stages introduce basic traps like pits and spikes. Moving too quickly or assuming the ground will stay where it is will result in instant failure.

After a few attempts, you will start to understand the game's sense of humour and try to predict what will move next.

Only to be trolled again because Level Devil wants to lure you into thinking you're safe.

Later levels add new tricks that are harder to guess. Controls suddenly flip left and right and your jump sends you flying higher than you planned. Platforms move after you land on them.

If you rush, you die. If you test the ground first, you might survive a bit longer than last time.

Controls

Movement is simple: You run left or right and jump.

Desktop:

  • Move: A / D or Left / Right arrow keys
  • Jump: W, Up arrow, or Space bar

Mobile:

  • Use the on-screen arrow buttons to move
  • Tap the jump button to jump

Types of traps in Level Devil

Every trap is designed to punish something you just did.

  • Disappearing platforms: Some platforms vanish only after you step on them. Rushing forward leads to instant falls. Always prepare to jump again the moment you land.
  • Control reversals: Left becomes right and can sometimes switch back during the level. Panicking here is certain death. Tap the directional buttons before committing to any movement.
  • Moving hazards: Spikes, saws and walls often activate after you move near them. Standing still for a split second can reveal the pattern.
  • Fake safe paths: The obvious route is often the trap. Expect the level to change the moment you feel safe. Even the exit door can move or turn into a trap
  • Gravity or physics shifts: Some stages alter how jumping works by making you jump extra high. Timing matters more than speed and jumping too fast can send you flying past the platform.
  • Rule-breaking stages: Some levels suddenly let you jump as many times as you want or move differently than before.

Level Devil worlds

Level Devil has almost 200 levels that are spread across 3 increasingly difficult worlds.

Levels are organised into doors. Each door contains 5 short stages built around a theme such as spikes, coins or movement tricks. Clear all 5 to move forward.

The final door of each world ends with longer stages that mix several traps together.

  • Level Devil: Simple jumps turn into traps. Floors disappear, spikes move mid-air, and coins explode. You quickly learn to test every platform before jumping onto it.
  • Level Devil-er: This world adds 16 doors packed with harder tricks. Movement flips without warning. Controls reverse, jumping changes height and springs launch you into hidden spikes.
  • Level Devil-est: You grow, shrink, teleport and even become the door. Just when you think you're safe, the exit vanishes. Panic once and you're back at the start.

Secret keys

10 purple keys are hidden in strange spots like behind invisible platforms or walls that look solid. Some only appear after you do something strange like fall down a hole on purpose.

Collecting all 10 unlocks a secret level that leads to the game's true ending, marked by a double-purple door. Unlock a hidden option in the settings menu to reach it.

Some keys only appear after you fail in a very specific way. That means sometimes losing is the only way to win.

Level Devil 2 player mode

In 2-player mode, you compete across 5 rounds. Win 3 or more out of 5 rounds to take the match.

Both players face the same traps at the same time. The winner is whoever figures them out and makes it to the door first. One mistake and your friend takes the round.

Certain buttons can activate additional hazards to drop traps on your friend and slow them down.
