Types of car games
Not every car game plays the same. Some test your speed. Others test your control. Here are the 5 main types you can play on Poki.
Racing games
In racing games, you race against other drivers to cross the finish line first. These make up over 30% of all car games and 18% of total plays. Dodge traffic, skid around corners and speed up when the road is straight. You can even try to make the other drivers crash. Do what it takes to finish first!
Top games: Grand Prix Hero, Cyber Cars Punk Racing
Platform games
Stay on the track. One mistake and it’s game over. These games make up a massive 30% of total plays from just 7% of all titles. They are less about speed and more about control. You’ll drive on narrow platforms barely wider than your car or avoid moving obstacles like swinging spikes or lasers.
Top games: Drive Mad, Monster Tracks
Drifting games
In drifting games, your car slides instead of turning normally. You’ll drift through corners by timing each turn. Drifting games are all about timing. Tap too early and you spin out. Too late and you miss the turn completely.
Top games: Drift Boss, Sling Drift
Open world simulation games
Drive anywhere and explore what’s around the map. There’s no finish line here. You can drive around cities and see if your car lands when you hit ramps and jumps. Crashes don’t end your run either, so you can try the craziest stunts you can. This is the biggest category within car games, with 41% of all titles and 33% of all plays.
Top games: Crazy Cars, City Rider
Car battle games
Enter an arena and take out other players before they take you out. Your car is your weapon. If you stop attacking, you lose. Hit other cars and take them out to win.
Top games: Smash Karts, Demolition Derby Crash Racing
